Waterbuck like grasslands, hills, and bushveld as long as a water source is nearby. They are often found in the water dams, reed beds and in the open veld on Bergsig Game Farm. They prefer grazing during the day, and are never far from water. They will feed on taller and rough grass or water plants in the water sources. there is a difference between males and females as the horns are only present in males. With a gestation period of 280 days, one calf is normally born. They have a white circle on their backsides which is a prominent feature of the waterbuck. Bergsig Game Farm had a new baby this year, a waterbuck bull-calf.
